PA Child Hit By Car Walking To School Bus Hospitalized: Police

A 12-year-old student is in the hospital after the were struck by a passing car while crossing the street to get on the school bus, East Cocalico Township Police announced on Wednesday, Oct.23.

Police were called to a report of a person struck at the intersection of North Reamstown and Bunker Hill roads at 7:07 a.m. 

Officers arrived to find the 12-year-old student "laying on the pavement after being struck by a vehicle," the police said.

The preliminary investigation has determined that the child was attempting to cross the street to get on a waiting school bus, the police explained. 

"Multiple witness statements indicate that the school bus had their lights flashing and stop sign down at the time of the collision," the police wrote in the release. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene. 

The child was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police. 

The investigation remains active at the time of publishing.
